Daybreak Games confirms that John Smedley will be taking some time off from the company for the near-term and transitioning to a different role to be determined. Upon finalization of his plans, further communication will be provided.

Smedley's had an awful time this past year or so with the Lizard Squad and associated hackers targeting him personally causing him a lot of personal problems, I'd have stepped down long before this, I really feel for the guy. :-\

Yea, true. Still expected him to just fade more into the background again not completely give up on the CEO post.

Who knows why he resigned? We don't. Kinda strange that a hacker group could be the cause of it, and how so?

Julius “zeekill” Kivimaki of the lizard squad, stole Smedley's identity, took out credit cards, filed false tax returns, "swatted" him (calling in an armed threat and having a SWAT team breach his house) as well as the bomb threat of that plane he was on. Smedley's looking to take zeekill to civil court and try to get him jailed, after he only received a 2 year suspended sentence for >50000 criminal charges. Bottom line, Smedley's pissed and he's had about a year of constant personal harassment - it hasn't just been DDOS attacks from Lizard Squad.

he will take his time to kill them, apart from that, DBG might have some easier times with those assholes with him taking a break, don't think he will be gone
